Full decision

Mr A complained that his children had been given incorrect information about events which occurred prior to them being taken into care and how his subsequent complaint was dealt with by Swansea Council (“the Council”).

The Ombudsman decided that the Council had not carried out the recommendations made in stage 2 complaint report in full. She decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.

The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to write to Mr A within 20 working days, providing him with further information, apologising for not providing this information sooner and to make a redress payment of £250 for time and trouble in having to escalate his complaint to the Ombudsman.
