Full decision

Mrs A complained about the care and treatment provided to her late husband shortly before his sad death in December 2021.

The Ombudsman decided that there was an opportunity for an independent external view to be sought by the Health Board in respect of the complaint.

The Ombudsman sought and gained the Health Board’s agreement to contact Mrs A within 2 months in order to appoint an independent external expert to provide an authoritative view on whether the care and treatment provided to Mr A had been appropriate during the period of care in question.
