Full decision

Mrs D complained that the laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) she underwent on 13 September 2021 was not carried out to an appropriate standard. This meant that Mrs D needed a further operation at a later date; however, she was informed surgery went smoothly. Mrs D also complained that her request for additional support from the First Surgeon following her second surgery was ignored.

Mrs D subsequently decided to pursue an Alternative Legal Remedy and so the Ombudsman’s investigation into her complaint was discontinued. As no findings were made, the Ombudsman did not make any recommendations regarding this complaint.
