IOPC Police Complaint Statistics

Complaints and allegations are different measures; a complaint can contain more than one allegation. Counts describe recorded demand and are not adjusted for force population or complaint-handling practice.

The IOPC no longer publishes an "upheld" rate by force. Nationally, around 13% of investigated complaints concluded that the service provided was unacceptable — the closest equivalent under the post-2020 system.
