Index summary

An independent review launched by DWP in June 2025 and co-chaired by Sir Stephen Timms MP, Sharron Brennan and Dr Clenton Farquharson CBE to ensure Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is fair and fit for the future, helping disabled people achieve better health, higher living standards and greater independence. The review works alongside disabled people, representative organisations, clinicians, experts and MPs to examine how PIP can better support people in a changing world. An interim report setting out the steering group's work to date, its co-production approach and emerging themes was published on 9 July 2026; it contains no formal recommendations. Final recommendations to the Secretary of State are expected in autumn 2026.
