Summary
The review identified insufficient attention to the emotional and practical support needs of the perpetrator as a carer, particularly as the victim's dementia progressed and after the victim's move to residential care. There were missed opportunities to assess the perpetrator's mental health and the impact of separation.

| 2 | That GPs refer to the Dementia NICE pathways so that they follow good practice to do carers’ assessments. Carers should be invited to health reviews yearly and to also review how this is affecting their physical and mental health. | NHS Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board |
