1. To ensure children are kept safe while they attend the service, the childminder should review current policies, procedures and risk assessments. This should include, but is not limited to: a) developing missing policies and procedures b) ensuring current policies and procedures reflect current best practice and guidance c) risks within children’s play environments are reflected within risk assessments that have clear mitigations in place. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state that: ‘I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment’ (HSCS 5.22) and ‘I use a service and organisation that are well led and managed’ (HSCS 4.23).
