Requirements & recommendations
1. By 1 August 2026, the provider must ensure the health, welfare and safety of all young people. To do this, the provider must, at a minimum: a) ensure that those with lead safeguarding responsibilities are fully enabled through appropriate training to manage safeguarding policies, assess concerns, support staff and refer to authorities. This is in order to comply with Regulation 4(1)(a) of the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SSI 2011/210).
This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I am protected from harm, neglect, abuse, bullying and exploitation by people who have a clear understanding of their responsibilities'. (HSCS 3.20).
1. To ensure that young people receive supports in line with clear aims and objectives of the service, the provider should review the current aims and objectives and develop these further to reflect the service for young people. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I use a service and organisation that are well led and managed'. (HSCS 4.23).
1. To ensure that young people are supported in their communication needs, the provider should undertake individual assessment to identify clearly what training is needed for staff. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My future care and support needs are anticipated as part of my assessment'. (HSCS 1.14).
2. To ensure that young people receive high quality care and support, the provider should improve upon current supervision and appraisal processes for staff. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes'. (HSCS 3.14).
1. To ensure that young people's views are heard and rights are upheld, the provider should explore how advocacy principles and provision may further secure the supports and services they need. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice (HSCS 4.11); and 'My human rights are protected and promoted and I experience no discrimination'. (HSCS 1.2).
Conditions of registration
The service will be provided to children and adults with assessed support needs in their own homes and the wider community.
Where the support is provided from more than one address the service must keep the Care Inspectorate informed of any changes to the addresses from which the service is provided.
The service will be provided by one staff team supporting North South and East Ayrshire.
