Requirement 1

1. By 2 June 2026 the provider must ensure that children are cared in a safe environment free from potential hazards. To do this the provider must at a minimum ensure that: - Staff are knowledgeable and competent in assessing and addressing safety risks and take action to ensure a safe and secure environment. - Staff consistently follow children’s individual risk assessments during all activities to actively manage identified risks and safeguard children’s safety and wellbeing. - Robust and outcome focused quality assurance processes are in place to ensure that any potential safety risks are identified and addressed promptly. This is to comply with section 7(1) (a) and (b) and 8 (1) (a) of the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019. Recommendation 1

1. Heating arrangements should be reviewed and consistently maintained to ensure all rooms provide a comfortable and safe environment that supports the health and wellbeing of children and staff. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My environment has plenty of natural light and fresh air, and the lighting, ventilation and heating can be adjusted to meet my needs and wishes’ (HSCS 5.21).

no more than 27 are aged under 2 years; no more than 30 are aged 2 years to under 3 years and; no more than 65 are aged 3 years to those not yet attending primary school full time.
