Recommendation 1

1. To promote people’s independence, the manager should review medication policies and procedures to ensure the support provided is proportionate to individual needs and abilities and clearly informs staff practice. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I am empowered and enabled to be as independent and as in control of my life as I want and can be'. (HSCS 2.2) and 'I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice'. (HSCS 4.11)

Recommendation 2

1. To ensure staffing levels support service goals, individual needs, and resettlement objectives, the manager should implement a responsive, outcome focused system that clearly demonstrates staffing levels are effectively meeting these needs. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My needs are met by the right number of people'. (HSCS 3.15) and 'I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes. (HSCS 4.19)
