1. The provider should ensure supports and recording of medicines support are done in line with best practice and clearly distinguish between prompting, assisting, and administering medication. Additionally, medicines should always be recorded in an itemised manner when administering medicines from pharmacy-prepared dosette boxes. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11).

To maintain effective oversight summary documents of key dates, including but not limited to review dates, audit dates and analysis, alongside a comprehensive record of accidents and incidents with associated actions and findings, should be formally developed, implemented, maintained regularly for effective monitoring and accountability purposes across all relevant operational areas. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes. (HSCS 4.19).
