1. To support children’s play, learning and development, the childminder should continue to develop the learning environment by increasing opportunities for exploratory and creative play. This should include, but not be limited to, reviewing toys and materials to further support children's curiosity and imaginative play. This is to ensure that care is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: “As a child, I can direct my own play and activities in the way that I choose, and freely access a wide range of experiences and resources suitable for my age and stage, which stimulate my natural curiosity, learning and creativity” (HSCS 2.27).

2. To support children’s health, dignity and safety, the childminder should ensure that daily routines are applied consistently across the setting. This should include, but not be limited to, ensuring safe sleep practice is followed at all times and daily health, safety and dignity routines. This is to ensure that care is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "My environment is secure and safe"(HSCS 5.19)
