1. By 30 June 2026, the provider must ensure that children’s health and medication needs are fully and safely supported. To do this, the provider must, at a minimum: a) ensure all known health and support needs are clearly recorded within each child’s plan, including a clear stepped approach to care b) implement robust systems to regularly audit information, ensuring medication is in date, records are accurate and include any current prescribing and expiry details c) ensure any training required to administer life-saving medication or support individual health needs is completed, clearly understood and appropriately recorded. This is to comply with Regulation 4(1)(a) of The Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SSI 2011/210). This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: “My care and support meets my needs and is right for me.” (H1. By 1 August 2026, the provider must develop, use and update risk assessments where appropriate for the home, garden and any community spaces used by children. To do this, the provider must, at a minimum: a) implement risk assessments consistently in practice and update them in response to emerging issues or changes b) involve children, where appropriate, in discussions about risk to support their understanding of how to keep themselves safe. This is to comply with regulation 4 (1) (a) of The Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SSI 2011/210). This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: " I use a service and organisation that are well led and managed (HSCS 4.23) and To do this, the provider must, at a minimum: a) ensure each plan is relevant to each child by clearly recording their individual circumstances. This may include individual needs, interests, health and wellbeing information, routines, preferences, permissions and any additional support required. b) ensure these are used to inform daily practice, ensuring children receive safe, consistent and responsive care. c) review plans with children and families at least every six months or before, as and when things change. This is to comply with regulation 4(1)(a) and regulation 5 of The Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SSI 2011/210). This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "

To strengthen leadership and support continuous improvement in children's outcomes, the provider should ensure clear and effective systems to self-evaluate and quality assure aspects of the service. This should include, but is not limited to: developing a clear vision, values and aims, informed by children and families views, to underpin improvement planning introducing a structured approach to self-evaluation and quality assurance to identify strengths and areas for development that improve outcomes for children planning improvement actions in manageable steps, with opportunities to review progress over time evidencing the impact of improvements on outcomes for children. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: " I experience high-quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice." (HSCS 4.1. To build on positive relationships and child-led experiences, the provider should develop more consistent approaches to observing, planning and reviewing children’s play. This should include, but is not limited to, developing an approach that supports children’s learning and development, provides appropriate challenge and promotes their ongoing progress. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: " As a child, I have fun as I develop my skills in understanding, thinking, investigation and problem solving, including through imaginative play and storytelling (HSCS 1.30) and "I am supported to achieve my potential in education and employment if this is right for me." (HSCS 1.27).
1. To support children’s health, wellbeing and safety, the childminder should strengthen infection prevention and control practices to ensure children are supported to follow appropriate hygiene routines. This should include, but is not limited to, supporting children to wash their hands with soap and water where available, particularly after outdoor play and before eating. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: " I experience high-quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice (HSCS 4.11) and "I am supported to make informed lifestyle choices affecting my health and wellbeing, and I am helped to use relevant screening and healthcare services." (HSCS 1.28).
Conditions of registration
The childminder may care for a maximum of 6 children at any one time up to 16 years of age:
of whom no more than 1 is under 12 months. primary school and;
Numbers include the children of the childminder's family/household.
Minded children can only be cared for by persons named on the registration certificate.
No overnight care will be provided
The parts of the premises not to be used are the family bedrooms on the first floor and the front garden.
