1. To help keep children safe, the childminder should ensure a clean and secure environment. This should include, but is not limited to, ensuring that: animal faeces are promptly removed and the area cleaned risk assessments of the environment are updated to reflect how potential hazards are managed access to the environment is secure at all times. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: “My environment is secure and safe” (HSCS 5.19).
