1. To improve outcomes for children and ensure that there is a culture of continuous improvement, quality assurance processes and self-evaluation should be developed further. This would help to support monitoring and assessing the service in line with best practice and legislation. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes.’ (HSCS 4.19).
1. By 1 December 2025, the provider must ensure children's medical needs are met to keep them safe and healthy. To do this, the provider must, as a minimum, ensure that: a) all medication is managed in line with good practice guidance; b) all staff have a clear understanding of children's medication and procedures to follow; c) all staff have been trained to administer certain medications safely; and d) medical records and consents are well detailed and used to ensure safe and effective treatment. This is to comply with Regulation 4 (1) (a) (Welfare of users) of The Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SSI 2011/210). This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'Any treatment or intervention that I experience is safe and effective.' (HSCS 1.24).
1. The provider should develop children’s personal plans and support staff to use this information effectively to meet children's health, welfare and safety needs. This includes, but is not limited to: a) personal plans set out children’s current needs and how they will be met; b) personal plans contain appropriate strategies for support, including clear actions and timescales for review; and c) personal plans are regularly reviewed and updated in partnership with families. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices.' (HSCS 1.15).
1. The provider should submit information to the Care Inspectorate in line with their registration requirements.
This includes but is not limited to; accidents, incidents and allegations of misconduct being notified within relevant timescales to the Care Inspectorate.
This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I use a service and organisation that are well led and managed.' (HSCS 4.23).
1. The provider should ensure the organisation and deployment of staff meets the needs of all children. This includes, but is not limited to: a) staffing across the setting being considered to ensure that key tasks, supervision of children, delivery of care needs and engagement is of a high standard; and b) improvements are made to the management of unexpected events. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state that: ‘My needs are met by the right number of people.’ (HSCS 3.15); and ‘My care and support are provided in a planned and safe way, including if there is an emergency or unexpected event.' (HSCS 4.14)
Conditions of registration
To provide a care service to a maximum of 60 children at one time from age 4 years to an age not yet attending secondary school when both the Community Room and Gym Hall are available.
When only the Community Room is available to provide a care service to a maximum of 28 children at one time from age 4 years to an age not yet attending secondary school.
During the operating times the service will have the exclusive use of the Community Room and Gym Hall.
Adult: child ratios will be:
3 years and over 1:8 if the children attend more than 4 hours per day or 1:10 if the children attend for less than 4 hours per day.
