1. To support better outcomes for people through a culture of continuous improvement you should be clear about the purpose and importance of quality assurance processes. These should be evaluative, carried out regularly and where areas for improvement have been identified, clear action plans developed which are signed off as completed once achieved. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes’ (HSCS 4.19).

1. To ensure that people receive high quality care and support from staff who are skilled and confident in their roles, the provider should ensure that all staff receive supervision meetings, and that records are kept to ensure identified actions to support staff development are followed through. Observations of staff practice should also be carried out regularly, recorded formally and be evaluative. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state that:

'I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes'. (HSCS 3.14).
