Requirement 1

1. By 5 June 2025, the provider must ensure that people are protected from harm, to ensure their wellbeing, in order to achieve agreed outcomes. This must include but is not limited to: a) Ensuring staff adhere to all core training and best practice guidance and understand their responsibilities in line with Scottish Social Services Scotland Codes of Practice b) Implementing a system for the robust oversight of all staff practices, namely, moving and handling c) Ensuring all staff demonstrate confidence and competence in recognising stress and distress and respond to changes in people's wellbeing accordingly, to pr1. By 5 June 2025, the provider must ensure that people’s care is planned, accurately recorded, and reviewed in line with regulatory timescales, to ensure they receive personalised, responsive care. In order to achieve this the provider must: a) Ensure that where people require monitoring of their hydrational needs, documentation such as fluid balance charts are accurate and sufficiently detailed to reflect the care and support planned. b) Ensure that where people require monitoring of a wound, documentation is clear and consistent to reflect progress. c) Ensure that people’s care is reviewed at six monthly intervals as is required of all services and people’s views and wishes are actively sought on their care and support. d) Where formal legal powers are in place for people, staff consult the right people in order to sign relevant documentation. Recommendation 1

1. To ensure people’s care and support benefits from effective quality assurance processes, the provider should ensure all audits are carried out thoroughly and consistently, in order to identify any areas for improvement. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes’ (HSCS 4.19).

Recommendation 2

1. In order that people's care and support needs are met, the provider should ensure that staffing arrangements are safe and effective. This should take into consideration the layout of the building, meaningful connection with people out with care tasks and include input from residents, staff, relatives and other stakeholders. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My needs are met by the right number of people’ (HSCS 3.15), 'People have time to support and care for me and to speak with me' (HSCS 3.16) and ' My care and support is consistent and stable because people work well together' (HSCS 3.19) .

Recommendation 3

2. In order to ensure that staff receive the correct support, and that managers can be confident that staff understand their roles and responsibilities fully, the provider should ensure that staff supervision and staff observations of practice are carried out at the service's own agreed policy and procedures intervals, or more often if required. This is in order to comply with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state that: 'I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisations codes' (HSCS 3:14).

Recommendation 4

1. To promote people's health, wellbeing and comfort, the provider should monitor and record temperatures within communal lounges and take necessary corrective action. This includes but is not limited to, ensuring appropriate window coverings are in place to offer shade. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My environment has plenty of natural light and fresh air, and the lighting, ventilation and heating can be adjusted to meet my needs and wishes' (HSCS 5.19).

Recommendation 5

2. In order to support effective cleaning and reduce the risk of infection to people, the provider should ensure that a system is in place for ongoing maintenance of fixtures and fittings. This includes but is not limited to doors, door frames and handrails. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment' (HSCS 5.22).
