Recommendation 1

1. To support consistency, team work and communication, the provider should develop an internal communication strategy to improve communication between staff at all levels in the service. This should include but is not limited to, establishing the key information that needs to be shared with staff dependent on their role, along with the frequency of communication. Systems should also be developed to ensure there is good communication between support staff who are on different shift patterns. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘My care and support is consistent and stable because people work together well’ (HSCS 3.19) And ‘If I am supported and cared for by a team or more than one organisation, this is well co ordinated so that I experience consistency and continuity’ (HSCS 4.17).
