1. To promote responsive care and support to young people, the provider should ensure staff have access to training appropriate to their role and apply their training in practice. This should include, but is not limited to training in trauma informed practice, therapeutic care, children’s rights and escape techniques. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes.(HSCS 3.14).

2. To promote the safety and wellbeing of young people, the provider should increase their understanding of safer recruitment practices and ensure these are always followed. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘I am confident that people who support and care for me have been appropriately and safely recruited’ (HSCS 4.24)
