Recommendation 1

1. To ensure staff are recruited safely, the provider must follow the best practice guidance Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment (SSSC and Care Inspectorate, September 2023). This should include, but is not limited to, all safer recruitment checks are fully completed prior to employment commencing. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state that: "I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled". (HSCS 3.14).
