The provider should ensure that protocols for as required medication are sufficiently detailed to support safe and appropriate administration, reducing the risk of people not receiving medication when needed or receiving it unnecessarily. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "Any treatment or intervention that I experience is safe and effective." (HSCS 1.24)

To improve people’s wellbeing and reduce social isolation, the provider should ensure that all individuals, including those who prefer to spend time in their rooms, are consistently offered meaningful engagement and interaction throughout the day. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "I can maintain and develop my interests, activities and what matters to me in the way that I like." (HSCS 2.22)

The provider should ensure that staffing assessments clearly set out how any identified shortfalls will be addressed and take into account feedback from people, relatives, staff, and the environment, so that staffing levels are responsive to the needs of all areas of the home. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "My needs are met by the right number of people." (HSCS 3.15)

The provider should ensure that deep cleaning is carried out consistently and that robust contingency plans are in place to maintain high standards of infection control during periods of staff shortage or recruitment. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well-maintained premises, furnishings and equipment." (HSCS 5.22)

To promote consistent and person-centred responses to stress and distress, the provider should ensure personal plans include clear information about individual potential triggers, presentation, and strategies that support a person during times of stress or distress. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices." (HSCS 1.15) and "I am supported to be emotionally resilient, have a strong sense of my own identity and wellbeing, and address any experiences of trauma or neglect." (HSCS 1.29)

To provide a care service to a maximum of 42 older people one place can be used for a named individual under 65 years of age with physical/sensory difficulties and/or memory impairment/dementia as agreed following a variation application granted on 19 August 2026.
