1. The manager should ensure that activities are organised to improve physical and mental wellbeing for people. This would enshrine the right of people to take part in activities that are of interest and meaningful to them. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: “I can choose to have an active life and participate in a range of recreational, social, creative, physical and learning activities every day, both indoors and outdoors” (HSCS 1.25).

2. The service should ensure that information is gathered from the Meaningful Connection Self-evaluation tool and that this is used, as part of an improvement plan, to improve practice. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: “I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes” (HSCS 4.19).

To ensure people receive responsive care and support, the service should undertake self-evaluation aligned to the quality framework for care homes for adults and older people, to understand where efforts to support improvement should be targeted. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes" (HSCS 4.19).

To support people’s wellbeing, the service should ensure that the environment of the home is clean, safe and intact and implement plans to replace carpets that can no longer be cleaned effectively. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well-maintained premises, furnishings and equipment" (HSCS 5.22).

1. To ensure people's personal care needs are supported without delay the care provider should ensure written contingency plans detail risk assessments to ensure essential equipment is available and people’s care needs are not compromised. In addition the care provider should ensure there are effective systems in place to ensure all staff are up to date with all communications.
