Recommendation 1

1. To ensure people experience high quality care and support that is right for them and have confidence in the people who support and care for them the provider should, but not be limited to, ensure: a) People’s support plans are consistent across the service in terms of being updated, and the level of detail and documents used for recordings. This includes ensuring that there is evidence of relevant legal documentation, where relevant. b) People benefit from continued partnership working, training and guidance from specialist input for specific health conditions. This includes person-specific epilepsy protocols, where relevant, mental health specific training and support for staff to fully understand and implement strategies to support people when they are in distress. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care p1. To ensure people have confidence in the organisation providing their care and support, the provider should but is not limited to, ensure: a) Senior staff have sufficient time, professional development and capacity to plan people’s support and complete their regular quality assurance activities. b) Review as necessary how senior staff are deployed and work balance monitored in supporting their role. c) Staff benefit from regular opportunities to meet, communicate effectively and discuss their work and how best to improve outcomes for people. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My care and support is provided in a planned and safe way, including if there is an emergency or unexpected event’ (HSCS 4.14); and ‘I experience high quality care and support because people have the necessary information and resources’
