Requirements & recommendations
1. To ensure children experience care and support that meets their needs, the childminder should evidence review of personal plans every six months, or sooner if children have developmental needs to be met. Personal plans should also record all relevant information such as start dates, likes/dislikes and changes in routine. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards, which state that: ‘My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices’ (HSCS 1.15).
2. To ensure children's safety and wellbeing the childminder should review the practice and arrangements for: •children's safe sleeping on trips and outings •quality, sociable and safe snack time •consistent handwashing, including after meal times. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards, which state that: ' I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (4.11)
Conditions of registration
The childminder may care for a maximum of 6 children at any one time up to 16 years of age:
of whom no more than 6 are under 12 years; of whom no more than 3 are not yet attending primary school and; of whom no more than 1 is under 12 months.
Numbers include the children of the childminder's family/household.
Minded children can only be cared for by persons named on the registration certificate.
