1. The provider should ensure staff follow good practice when administering and recording medication prescribed on an as required basis. This should include strategies and interventions used prior to administering, if appropriate, and recording effectiveness of medication. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I receive high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11).
