Recommendation 1

1. To improve outcomes for children, the provider should develop a shared vision, values and aims to consistently inform decision-making and underpin practice. These should be co-constructed with children, families and staff to reflect the whole Pentland community. These should be consistently understood and actively used to drive improvements. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: " I can be meaningfully involved in how the organisations that support and care for me work and develop" (HSCS 4.6) and "I am actively encouraged to be involved in improving the service I use, in a spirit of genuine partnership." (HSCS 4.7).

2. To improve children’s experiences and outcomes, the provider should strengthen self-evaluation and quality assurance to ensure a clear focus on impact. This should include evaluating how actions improve children’s safety, wellbeing and experiences. The views of children and families should be meaningfully gathered and used to inform change. Clear evidence of improvements, how these were achieved and next steps should be consistently recorded.
