Recommendation 1

1. To support people’s health and wellbeing, the provider should ensure that people consistently receive support aligned to their personal plan and agreed risk reduction strategies. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "My care and support is provided in a planned and safe way, including if there is an emergency or unexpected event" (HSCS 4.14).

Recommendation 2

2. To support people’s wellbeing and ensure they experience interventions that are safe and effective if receiving medicines, medication administration records charts should include: a) The time of administration of all medication b) The reasons for giving as required medication c) The outcome and whether the as required medication was effective. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state: "Any treatment or intervention that I experience is safe and effective" (HSCS 1.24).

Recommendation 3

1. To promote positive outcomes for people, the provider should ensure that staff have the right knowledge and skills to meet their needs. This should include ensuring that staff understand and are competent in the use of the electronic planning system used in the service. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes" (HSCS 3.14).

Recommendation 4

2. To support people to share their views on the service, and help people feel valued, the provider should improve communication with families, where it is appropriate, about the support people receive. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "I am actively encouraged to be involved in improving the service I use, in a spirit of genuine partnership" (HSCS 4.7) and "I am supported to give regular feedback on how I experience my care and support and the organisation uses learning from this to improve" (HSCS 4.8).
