Requirements & recommendations
1. To ensure young people's safety is promoted through agreed practices, the provider should implement robustly recorded and agreed multi agency approaches to the use of restrictive practices. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: My care is consistent and stable because people work well together (HSCS, 3.19) and My care and support is provided in a planned and safe way, including if there is an emergency or unexpected event (HSCS, 4.14).
2. To support young people's wellbeing, the provider should ensure that all incidents, including restrictive practices are fully recorded and sufficiently detailed to explain actions taken. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice (HSCS 4.11).
3. To support young people's ongoing development, the service should ensure their care planning documents are in accordance with SMART principles. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: My personal plan is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices (HSCS 1.15).
Conditions of registration
The service may provide short breaks for up to 3 children and young people with learning disabilities and multisensory impairments.
The service may provide permanent home for up 2 children and young people with learning disabilities and multi-sensory impairments.
