1. To ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to support safe and consistent care, the provider should ensure that staff receive the training needed within an appropriate timeframe. T his should include, but not be limited to training in key areas such as medication and managing stress and distress, in line with organisational policy. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS): • “I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes” (HSCS 3.14). • “I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice”(HSCS 4.11).
