1. By 29 June 2026, the provider must ensure people receive safe, high quality medication management and support in line with best practice guidance, to ensure health and well-being is maintained. To do this, the provider must, at a minimum: a) Ensure the organisational medicine management policy is reviewed, updated and is in line with best practice guidance. b) Ensure that all staff are trained, knowledgeable and competent in medication administration and recording with regular competency assessments to identified of any learning needs. c) Ensure that all staff are aware of the process of reporting and escalation of any medication incidents and that there is clear management oversight. e) Complete medication audits to identify any issues and implement any actions identified. f) Ensure there is a plan in place to regularly audit medication records and practice to allow early identification of any issues and rectify these with clear a1. By 31 August 2026, the provider must ensure that there are robust quality assurance processes in place to support the service to achieve a consistent approach to assessing and monitoring service provision and developing a culture of continuous service improvement. To do this , the provider must, at a minimum: a) Ensure that all staff understand the process and how to complete incident forms, and that management provide oversight of any actions and themes which require improvement. b) Ensure the current quality assurance system is reviewed so that key areas of care and support, such as support plans, risk assessments and infection prevention and control, are audited regularly with clear actions and outcomes. c) Ensure that the service is adhering to the Care Inspectorate notification guidance for reportable events, and that all staff and management understand their duty to report actual and potential harm under the Adult Support and Protection Act (Scotland) 20
1. In order to promote good standards of practice, the provider should ensure that people are confident in the support that they receive. This should include, but not be limited to, planning support that promotes consistent staffing in line with people’s assessed needs. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ' I am supported and cared for by people I know so that I experience consistency and continuity' (HSCS 4.16).
1. The provider should ensure that support plans and risk assessments are fully reviewed and updated to ensure care and support reflects people’s current needs, wishes and choices. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My personal plan (sometimes referred to as my care plan ) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices.' (HSCS 1.15).
