Requirements & recommendations
1. To ensure people are experiencing care and support in line with planned care, the provider should ensure: a) Staff are recording full and accurate information in daily journals about the support given to people at every visit. b) Staff are appropriately trained in recording this information accurately. c) Management of the service continually audit and assess the quality and accuracy of information being recorded to ensure this is in line with planned care. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: “My care and support meets my needs and is right for me”. (HSCS 1.19)
1. To ensure people can be confident they are supported by staff who are recruited well, the service should: a) Ensure all staff reference documents comply with “Safer recruitment through better recruitment” guidance (Scottish Government, September 2023). This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: “I am confident that people who support and care for me have been appropriately and safely recruited”. (HSCS 4.24)
Conditions of registration
The Support Service provided will be provided to people in their own homes.
The service shall be available to adults including; older people people with dementia people with mental health problems (other than dementia) and/or people with a visual impairment and/or hearing impairment.
This service will not be provided to children under 16 years of age.
The Care Inspectorate requires to be notified when the numbers of staff increase or decrease by 10%.
The service will notify service users of the conditions of registration the name of the registered service and the Care Inspectorate contact details.
Staff support will be available to service users over a 24 hour period if requested.
Before supporting any service user to take medicines a policy and procedure including a system of recording this support requires to be in place.
Staff will not use a service user's home as an office base or as venue for supervision/appraisal or other staff meetings.
The provider should ensure that persons employed in the provision of the care service receive training appropriate to the work they are to perform.
