1. To support the protection of children and their safety and well-being, the provider should ensure children are cared for in safe and secure outdoor environments. Robust and dynamic risk assessments should take place and action taken to mitigate risks to children. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘My environment is secure and safe’ (HSCS 5.19).
Conditions of registration
To provide a care service to a maximum of 30 children aged from 3 years up to the end of P7 at primary school at any one time during term time only. Of those 30 no more than 5 are aged 3 years to not yet attending primary school.
Adult:child ratios will be a minimum of:
3 years and over 1:8 if the children attend more than 4 hours per day or 1:10 if the children attend for less than 4 hours per day. If all children are over 8 years old and over 1:10.
