1. To ensure people have confidence in the organisation providing their care and support, the provider should support staff to complete mandatory training, using a range of approaches to suit different learning styles for staff, and thereby support their compliance and continuous professional development. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes’. (HSCS 3.14).
2. In order to support positive outcomes for people who use this service, t he service should evidence staff practice observations, and in key areas of practice, competency based assessments, to support continuous learning and professional and practice development. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I use a service and organisation that are well led and managed'. (HSCS 4.23).
3. So that people will experience high quality and consistent support, t he provider should use the available data to inform a strategy that will consistently enable their deployment of staff, when required, to cover holiday periods or staff absence. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My care and support is consistent and stable because people work well together' . (HSCS 3.19)
