1. To support people’s safety and wellbeing, the provider should ensure that health monitoring records are used consistently and in line with best practice. Appropriate personal plans should be in place when monitoring records are being used. There should be effective oversight through audit processes, to ensure records are completed effectively. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state: ‘I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11).
2. To keep people safe, the provider should ensure that staff follow organisational policy and best practice guidance when administering medication, including 'as required' medication. Quality assurance processes should be in place, to ensure any errors are identified and appropriate action is taken timeously. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state: ‘I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11).
