1. To support children's wellbeing and safety, the childminder should develop their quality assurance procedures. This should include, but is not limited to, ensuring daily risk assessments are carried out and recorded, and policies regarding children's care and safety reflect best practice guidance. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice’ (HSCS 4.11) and 'I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes' (HSCS 4.19).
1. To support children's safety, health and wellbeing the childminder should ensure children ensure that children are supported to sleep safely. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My environment is secure and safe’ (HSCS 5.17); and ‘I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice’ (HSCS 4.11).
1. To support high quality outcomes for children and families, the childminder should develop approaches to self-evaluation and improvement planning of the service. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11); and 'I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes' (HSCS 4.19).
1. To ensure children are safeguarded, the childminder should make sure that they have the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to protect children from harm. This should include, but is not limited to, ensuring they participate in regular child protection training, and have clear chid protection procedures and policy. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I am protected from harm, neglect abuse, bullying and exploitation by people who have a clear understanding of their responsibilities' (HSCS 3.20); and 'I am protected from harm because people are alert and respond to signs of significant determination in my health and wellbeing, that I may be unhappy or may be at risk of harm' (HSCS 3.21).
1. To support children's health, wellbeing and safety, the childminder should ensure children are cared for in a safe and clean environment. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My environment is secure and safe’ (HSCS 5.17); and 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment' (HSCS 5.22).
Conditions of registration
Number(s) and Age(s) of person(s) to whom service may be provided:
1. To provide a care service to a maximum of 6 children at any one time under the age of 16, of whom a maximum of 4 will be under 12, of whom no more than 3 are not yet attending primary school and of whom no more than 1 is under 12 months. Numbers are inclusive of children of the childminder's family.
Any other conditions unique to the service:
2. The parts of the premises not to be used are the upper level of the house and front garden.
3. Overnight service will not be provided.
