1. To support people's health and wellbeing, the provider should ensure 'as required' (PRN) medication protocols are in place for all individuals prescribed PRN medication. Protocols should clearly outline when medicines should be administered, expected outcomes, and any alternative strategies. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices' (HSCS 1.15).

2. In order to uphold people's rights and respect their dignity and wellbeing, the provider should ensure there are robust systems in place to regularly review any restrictive practices people are subject to. These reviews should be clearly recorded, involve relevant professionals, where appropriate, and demonstrate that restrictions remain necessary, proportionate, and in the least restrictive form possible. In addition, the provider should consider the impact of any restrictions on other people living within the shared environment. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'If my independence, control, and choice are restricted, this complies with relevant legislation and any restrictions are justified, kept to a minimum, and carried out sensitively' (HSCS 1.3).
