1. To promote consistent high-quality practice, the provider should ensure that quality assurance and self-evaluation processes are further developed. This should include, but is not limited to: a) the improvement plan and self-evaluation processes being linked to and supported by ‘A quality improvement framework for the early learning and childcare sectors: early learning and childcare’; b) a medication audit being developed and implemented to support the safe management of medication. This would support the service to identify discrepancies in medication documentation; c) including chronologies within each child’s personal plans to provide an overview of significant events in a child’s life. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes’ (HSCS 4.19).

1. To ensure children experience consistent high quality play and learning, the provider should ensure that interruptions to children’s play are minimised. This would support children’s engagement in play and would provide depth to play, learning and development. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I am supported to achieve my potential in my education and employment if this is right for me' (HSCS 1.27).

To support high-quality mealtime experiences, the provider should ensure that children are consistently offered a calm and relaxed environment, where they do not have to wait for extended periods before their meals are served. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I can enjoy unhurried snack and mealtimes in as relaxed an atmosphere as possible' (HSCS 1.35).
