1. To ensure that children are protected from harm, the provider should make sure that all staff are safely recruited. This should include, but is not limited to verifying staff suitability through appropriate checks and maintaining accurate records.' This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: 'I am confident that people who support and care for me have been appropriately and safely recruited' (HSCS 4.24). This is to ensure safe recruitment procedures are consistent with the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council guidance ‘Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment.’
