Recommendation 1

1. To support children's health, wellbeing and safety the provider should ensure the facilities are maintained to a high standard. This should include, but is not limited to, - replacing damaged flooring in children’s toilets - providing changing facilities that respect children’s right to dignity and privacy - ensuring the support beams in the outdoor play area have effective safety measures in place to reduce the risk to children - cleaning products are kept out of reach of children - large pieces of equipment should not be stored in toilets. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state that as a child 'My environment is secure and safe' (HSCS, 5.19) and 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishing and equipment (HSCS 5.24).
