1. To improve the setting, the provider should ensure that maintenance and cleaning is carried out to a high standard to enable good standards of cleanliness. This should include, but is not limited to, ensuring there is effective auditing of the environment and timely maintenance completed. A refurbishment plan, with achievable timescales, should be developed. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy, and well maintained premises, furnishings, and equipment' (HSCS 5.22).
