Requirement 1

1. By 6 September 2026, in order to protect and safeguard people using the service, the provider must ensure all appropriate pre-employment checks are completed, in line with the Care Inspectorate and SSSC guidance ‘Safer Recruitment through Better Recruitment’. This includes but is not limited to checking all successful applicants’ right to work in the UK. This is in order to comply with: The Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations, Scottish Statutory Instruments 2011 No 210: regulation 9(1) - requirement about fitness of employees. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state ‘I am confident that people who support and care for me have been appropriately and safely recruited’ (HSCS 4.24).

Recommendation 1

1. To support people's medication needs, the service should enhance the manager’s oversight of medication practices to ensure robust quality assurance. While systems are in place for administering and recording medication, there is scope to improve the consistency and effectiveness of auditing processes. This includes: • Implementing regular, structured audits of Medication Administration Records (MARs) to identify and address discrepancies, missed doses, or documentation errors. • Using audit outcomes to inform staff training, focusing on safe handling, administration, and recording of medicines. • Establishing a feedback mechanism where audit findings are shared constructively with staff to promote a learning culture. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I have1. To improve the environment of the home the provider should continue to develop a refurbishment plan. This should include but not be restricted to timely repairs and replacement of items. The plan should detail the timescales for refurbishment and repairs/maintenance to take place and be reviewed on a regular basis. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well-maintained premises, furnishings and equipment' (HSCS 5.22).
