1. By 29 May 2026 the provider must ensure that people have their medication stored and administered in a safe way, in order to maintain their health and wellbeing. To do this, the service provider must, at a minimum: - ensure the date of opening is recorded on topical creams and ointments, and also the expiry date as this may alter once opened - implement a robust system to audit staff practice in relation to the storage and application of topical creams. This is to comply with Regulation 4(1)(a) of The Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations for Care 2011 (SSI 2011/210).

2. By 29 May 2026 the provider must ensure that people experience care in an environment that is safe and minimises the risk of infection. To do this the service provider must at a minimum ensure that: a) all clinical waste is disposed of in a manner which takes account of the most up to date guidance from Health Protection Scotland b) all aids and equipment are of a good standard and can be adequately cleaned. This is to comply with Regulations 4 (1) (a) and (d)(welfare of users and procedures for the prevention and control of infection) of the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SS1 2011/210). This is in order to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state: 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment'. (HSCS 5.24)

By 31 July 2026, the service must ensure that people experience a service that is well managed and results in better outcomes for people through r obust and transparent quality assurance processes. This must include, but is not limited to: a) an assessment of the service's performance through effective audits b) the development of a service improvement plan that is informed by quality assurance activities, including feedback from people c) an audit of staff training, sp1. By 31 July 2026, the provider must ensure each service user has a personal plan in place which sets out how their health, welfare and safety needs are to be met. To do this the provider must, at a minimum, ensure that: a) care plans accurately reflect people's wishes and preferences for their support b) where a service user needs a specific aspect of their health monitored, that supporting documents and charts are completed. This is to comply with Regulation 5(1) and (2) (Personal Plans) of the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Requirements for Care Services) Regulations 2011 (SSI 2011/210). This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices.’ (HSCS 1.15)
