Recommendation 1

1. Repairs and re-decoration should be carried out promptly to ensure young people live in a homely environment which conveys a message of respect and nurture. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment' (HSCS 5.22).

Recommendation 2

2. Where restrictive practices are used these should be regularly reviewed to determine their effectiveness and necessity. If they are deemed to be necessary then the team should use these in a consistent manner to ensure young people understand their rights and expectations. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'If my independence, control and choice are restricted, this complies with relevant legislation and any restrictions are justified, kept to a minimum and carried out sensitively' (HSCS 1.3).
