1. To support children’s safety and wellbeing, the provider should ensure all staff have a current and up to date registration with the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme (PVG). This should include, but not be limited to ensuring a new PVG record or scheme record update is in place for all staff prior to the commencement of their employment. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘I am confident that people who support and care for me have been appropriately and safely recruited’ (HSCS 4.24).
