Recommendation 1

1. The provider, in conjunction with the school and the local authority, should look at how they can improve the areas used by the children attending the after school club. They should implement a maintenance and decoration programme to enhance and improve the environment to make it safe and welcoming for the children. In particular, they should consider improvements to the gym hall, dining area and toilets. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: "I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment" (HSCS 5.24).
