1. In order to promote consistently high quality care for children, the childminder should establish a system of self-evaluation using the current guidelines and best practice documents. They should also include children and their families' views in this. The self-evaluation should then be used to identify areas where improvements would impact positively on children’s experiences and outcomes and where further training is needed. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11); and 'I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes' (HSCS 4.19). In order to promote children’s safety, health and wellbeing, the childminder should access training in child protection as a priority. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience high quality care and support based on relevant evidence, guidance and best practice' (HSCS 4.11).
