1. To help ensure that all staff are aware of people’s dietary needs and preferences, the provider should ensure that there is easily accessible information within the kitchen. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that: ‘My meals and snacks meet my cultural and dietary needs, beliefs and preferences’ (HSCS 1.37).

1. The provider should ensure actions are identified within the service improvement plan, which should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound (SMART). These should be shared with people to provide reassurance and commitment to positive outcomes. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards which states that:

‘I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the organisation having robust and transparent quality assurance processes’ (HSCS 4.19).

To achieve comprehensive quality assurance and service improvement, the provider should explore different ways of receiving feedback from staff, people and relatives which contributes to the self-evaluation of the service. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘I am supported to give regular feedback on how I experience my care and support, and the organisation uses learning from this to improve’ (HSCS 4.8).

1. The provider should ensure that the staffing arrangements across all departments meet the safety, wellbeing and social needs of people. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: ‘I am confident that people respond promptly, including when I ask for help’ (HSCS 3.17).

1. To ensure good outcomes for people experiencing care, the service should ensure all personal belongings and clothing items are identifiable to each person supported. To assist with the process, an items and clothing inventory should be put in place, to ensure belongings are recorded within individual personal plans. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with Health and Social Care Standard (HSCS) which state that: 'I experience high quality care and support because people have the necessary information and resources'. (HSCS 4.27).
