Recommendation 1

1. The provider should enhance the provision of activities throughout the home to ensure these are designed around people's choices and preferences aimed to support better outcomes. This should include but not be limited to:

a. regular planned activities linked to individuals’ preferences that provide stimulation and meaningful engagement b. creating opportunities for all people to have access to meaningful and therapeutic activities c. improved availability of one-to-one support where people are unable or do not wish to be involved in group activities d. developing methods to evaluate activities that have been facilitated to inform future plans.

This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which state that:

"I can maintain and develop my interests, activities and what matters to me in the1. T o further the improvement journey and ensure people benefit from effective quality assurance, the provider should provide guidance and direction to the service. This should include but not be limited to:- a. quality audits and action plans are fit for purpose, completed regularly and ensuring they lead to the necessary action to achieve improvements without delay b. quality assurance systems continually evaluate and monitor service provision to inform improvement and development of the service and c. senior staff having a clear understanding of their role and responsibility with regards quality assurance activities. This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that: "I benefit from a culture of continuous improvement, with the orga1. The provider should ensure that there is a clear framework for mandatory training, to ensure people benefit from a skilled staff team. All staff should have access to and undertake appropriate and ongoing learning and development opportunities relevant to their role. This should include but not be restricted to: a. Clear guidance on the frequency of all core and refresher training. b. Ensuring all staff, including casual workers, can access required training. c. Embedding a consistent approach to practice observations, with follow up actions and re checks where needed. d. Maintaining regular, planned supervision for all staff to support reflection, learning, and development. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: “I2. The provider should ensure that night shift staffing levels are maintained at the recommended levels to promote the safety and wellbeing of people supported. This should include: a. Reviewing recruitment and retention strategies in relation to night shift posts. b. Reducing reliance on contingency arrangements. c. Ensuring that staffing levels at night are consistently aligned with assessed needs and risk management plans. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "My needs are met by the right number of people’ (HSCS 3.15).

Recommendation 2

1. The provider should continue to develop the environment to ensure it meets people’s needs and enhances their comfort and quality of life. This should include the ongoing review of the improvements identified in the environmental improvement plan and measures to regulate the temperature throughout the building, particularly in preparation for winter. This is to ensure care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS), which state: "I experience an environment that is well looked after with clean, tidy and well maintained premises, furnishings and equipment (HSC5.22)".

Recommendation 3

1. To ensure that people receive the right support at the right time, the provider should ensure all care plans are up to date and detail accurate information, including guidance in relation to as required medication. Care plans should be person centred, guiding staff on how to meet current people’s care and support needs. To ensure care and support continues to be appropriate to meet peoples needs, regular reviews should be carried out for all people supported with involvement from all relevant parties.

This is to ensure that care and support is consistent with the Health and Social Care Standards (HSCS) which states that:

"My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices." (HSCS 1.15)
