Recommendation 58

58 Accepted Paragraph: 240

Low awareness and accessibility of the Workload Reduction Toolkit for school leaders and teachers.

Conclusion
We welcome the Department’s efforts to reduce workload through the Workload Reduction Toolkit. However, we are concerned about the lack of awareness of the Toolkit despite being published over five years ago. If more progress is to be made the Toolkit needs to be made accessible and easy to use so school leaders and teachers can properly benefit.
Government Response Summary
The government has launched a new 'Improve workload and wellbeing for school staff' digital service, which updates and improves the previous Workload Reduction Toolkit to offer better navigability, speed of access, and links to other helpful information.

HM Government Accepted
We have recently completed a user research project to update and improve the digital experience of users when engaging with the resources (previously accessed through the School Workload Reduction Toolkit). Based on feedback from users we have developed and launched a new service Improve workload and wellbeing for school staff with improved navigability, speed of access to resources and links to other helpful information. The service contains a range of supportive resources for schools to review and reduce workload, and improve staff wellbeing. Working closely with schools and trusts, we will continue to add new resources to the service and to promote it to ensure it remains a helpful, relevant and impactful resource to support schools and trusts with their workload reduction.
