Conclusion
Many younger childcare practitioners entering the profession will themselves have grown up during a period of decline in reading, and other new practitioners may have struggled with reading for pleasure themselves. The Department must therefore ensure that reading for pleasure is built into all levels of training for early years practitioners and make continuing professional development on reading for pleasure available to practitioners.
